Description:
New book, 56 pages. The Ml113 family of vehicles, particularly the APC version, has seen service with many of the world's armies since its introduction in the 1960s. The Australian Army were one of the early purchasers of the diesel engined version, the M113A1 APC, procuring several hundred during the 1960s and 1970s. These were all manufactured to Australian Army standards, differing in many details from those in service elsewhere. The M113A1 APC has seen considerable use since first arriving in Australia in early 1965, and is destined to remain the most numerous armoured vehicle in Australia for a long time. This Profile is confined to the Australian Army's early experience with the M113A1 APC. It covers the tropical trials, through its acceptance into service, up to the end of Australia's involvement in the Vietnam War in 1972.
