Description:
New book, 66 pages, 140+ photos & colour profiles, NOTE: ALL TEXT IN FRENCH. Marius Berliet, the most illustrious of French industrial vehicle pioneers, embarked on the then-nascent military truck industry in 1906. Success after success, winning numerous endurance races, he developed the immortal CBA on the eve of the Great War, which would become one of the symbols of the Sacred Way at Verdun and the victory of 1918, "the French road having vanquished the German rail." After the Great War, the major Lyon-based manufacturer remained one of the most important suppliers to the French army. The extremely hard service in Morocco during the Rif War (1925-1926) further popularized the military Berliet, and, at a time of rearmament in the face of the new German threat, the Vénissieux factory produced thousands of 3.5-ton and 5-ton trucks, both tarpaulin-covered and tank-mounted, as well as 7.5-ton heavy-duty trucks and 15-ton tank transporters. All these models, and many others, are reviewed in this volume. A historical document paying tribute to the French automotive industry in the service of National Defense. This book devoted to the Berliet is the third in a rich collection intended to cover all vehicles used by the French army, from all manufacturers. Each highly visual book systematically reviews the models, following a chronological order, with the most beautiful photographs, detailed technical data sheets, and, where possible, the original registration numbers. In addition, the main models are presented in color, allowing collectors and modelers to discover their period liveries.
