Plans were therefore made to update the Parade uniforms of the army and the new Parade Uniform regulations were issued in 1915. Essentially, the old uniform details such as facings, pipings and lace remained the same as before the war, except that the basic color of the uniform was Field Grey for all branches. History was not kind to these plans. As the war deepened it became apparent that new dress uniforms would be a matter decided at the end of the war. Consequently few of these uniforms were ever issued and then mostly to officers. Other ranks could purchase them for walking out and many did but by War’s end the issue of uniforms, dress or otherwise, would be largely academic. 30 Pages of text and 20 color plates.
